Kommentare/ Inhalte:
In this seminar we will closely read excerpts from key international relations (and some international law) texts - including, but not limited to, works by Grotius, Vattel, Carr, Morgenthau, Aron, Claude, Waltz, Keohane, and Wendt - that have left significant footprints in the discipline. We will analyze their theoretical contributions as well as their styles of argumentation and ask which of their insights and arguments are still valid today.
Lernziel:
The goal of the course is direct and critical enagagement with key contributions to IR theory in their original form, not filtered through other textbooks.
Vorgehen:
Each week an excerpt of ca. 20-30 pages will have to be read. Small written assignments with repexct to each text will count as Studienleistung for the course. Asynchronous interaction will occur via MS Teams, for synchronous interaction we will use Zoom.
