Weitere Informationen: Die Teilnahme an der Exkursion ist verpflichtend, eine Freistellung von der Exkursion kann nur aus unabdingbaren Gründen (Krankheit, Überschneidung mit einer anderen Veranstaltung) erfolgen und muss vorher abgesprochen werden. Es ist dann nach Absprache an einer Kleinen Exkursion eines anderen Seminars teilzunehmen.
Kommentare/ Inhalte: The objective of this course is to investigate the process of “green washing” of the anti-immigration discourse. In other words, we will analyse how immigration is frames as a source of environmental problems. In the USA this type of green-washing already happened: some associations hide their anti-immigration intentions behind a green approach asserting that “Environmental goals can only be accomplished if(..) immigration is substantially reduced”.
During this course, we will discuss the well-known case of USA but we will also investigate how the role of migrants in the environmental discussion changed (if so) during the last decades, including the more recent climate change – migration nexus.
Lernziel: Requirements to pass:
This course will be offered in distance learning mode, using Zoom and OpenOlat/ Moodle. During the course students will 1) discuss scientific and grey literature 2) carry out independent research on the topic 3) write a final essay on the concepts learned during the course.
