Die Teilnahme an der Exkursion ist verpflichtend, eine Freistellung von der Exkursion kann nur aus unabdingbaren Gründen (Krankheit, Überschneidung mit einer anderen Veranstaltung) erfolgen und muss vorher abgesprochen werden. Es ist dann nach Absprache an einer Kleinen Exkursion eines anderen Seminars teilzunehmen.

Kommentare/ Inhalte:
The ecozones are large regions of the earth, which have similar climatic characteristics (temperature, precipitation etc.) soil types, the landscapes etc (Schultz 2005). The ecozones evolved over a longer period of time and share a common evolutionary history. The vegetation types are the broad representations of the ecozones, which generally aligns with major climatic regions (Schultz 2005). The climatic conditions are main controlling factors of ecozones, which control the evolution and other characters e.g. species, growth, etc. Major ecozones of the earth are polar subpolar, boreal, temperate, mid-latitudes, dry mid-latitudes, subtropics with different patterns of rains, dry tropics, tropics with different rain patterns etc. This course will discuss climate and vegetation characters etc. in major ecozones of the world.

Lernziel:
Elaboration of comprehensive and integrative knowledge of basic and applied aspects of Climate and Vegetation in the World’s Ecozones to be communicated in English
