Kommentare/ Inhalte: This course covers selected topics in health economics at an advanced level. This semester we will work through two textbooks dealing with important issues in health economics: Felder, S. & Mayrhofer, T., 2017. Medical Decision Making, Springer Berlin Heidelberg. Angrist, J.D. & Pischke, J.-S., 2015. Mastering’ Metrics: The Path from Cause to Effect, Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press. The course starts April 21st at 13:15 hrs. We will distribute information for the online-meeting the day before. Students will present selected chapters from these books. Students will form pairs and present a chapter. Each student will be assigned to two chapters, thus presenting two half chapters. We will try to do live presentations on zoom or other platforms. After the presentation, we will discuss the content of the chapter. At the end of the term, we will provide a list of essay topics relating to each book. For each book, you will be asked to choose an essay topic. Each essay will be 1,000 words +/-10 percent (text without biography). Further information on the course is available on Open OLAT which we will use as the main platform. Grading: The grade will be based on the presentations (25 percent each) and the essays (25 percent each).
