Diese Teilnahme ist ein Muss, da am ersten Termin sowohl der Einstufungstest als auch die Einführung stattfinden. Ein späterer Einstieg ohne die Teilnahme an der ersten Sitzung ist nicht möglich.

Target group:
All undergraduate students of Social Economics
Maximum no. of participants: ideally 16, but possibly up to 24
Placement test: beginning of term
Participation in the first session is a must; prior registration on STiNE is not sufficient to ensure a place.

Prerequisites:
Students must have a good, upper-intermediate level of English - Level B2, Independent User - according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
Students should be at an advanced level of their of studies.
Students must be prepared to participate actively and also, where required, to work as part of a team.
Interdisciplinary openness and cooperation are expected of all students who wish to participate in this course.

Lernziel:
Students prepare, draft, write and edit an essay on a relevant subject they are dealing or have dealt with in the course of their studies; the topic chosen must be of direct relevance to the candidates’ studies.
Specific terminology may be acquired, activated and consolidated in this course; however, the main focus of this seminar is to develop and improve one's writing skills in an academic context in English.

Vorgehen:
Course Outline:
A brief theoretical input on the topic of academic writing will be offered and discussed.
The course will thereafter take the form of a writing workshop in which students are expected to submit and revise their work in progress on a weekly basis. Feedback will be given before and in each session.

Literatur:
Material selected and posted by lecturer on e-learning platform CommSy.
Possible use of another e-learning for submission of students’ writing.
Students will be given the login details for the platform(s) to be used in the first two sessions.

Zusätzliche Hinweise zu Prüfungen:
Regular and active participation including peer evaluation.
Continuous assessment in the form of work to be submitted and evaluated on a weekly basis.
The final work is to be submitted at the end of the lecture period.
