Weitere Informationen: . HINWEIS FÜR HAUPTFÄCHLER/INNEN: Drei Vertiefungsseminare werden im Rahmen des Moduls SOA-V4 im WiSe angeboten. Das Modul SOA-V4 besteht jedoch aus nur zwei Modulbausteinen (Seminar A und Seminar B). Für eine korrekte Anmeldung in STiNE bedeutet das: a) Pro Modulbaustein stehen bis zu 3 Seminare zur Auswahl b) Bitte wählen Sie nur 1 Seminar pro Modulbaustein: 1 Seminar für den Modulbaustein "Seminar A" und/oder 1 Seminar für den Modulbaustein "Seminar B". Sie können im Modul SOA-V4 insgesamt nur 2 Seminare wählen. Kommentare/ Inhalte: European travellers have visited the Thai kingdom since the sixteenth century, when Portuguese merchants, missionaries and soldiers began to trade and settle in Ayutthaya. Dutch, French, English and other Europeans were to follow in subsequent centuries. Ayutthaya and Bangkok became important trade centres in the region, hosting a large number of foreign communities coming from the West, The seminar will examine the nature of cross-cultural contacts between Thailand and Europe from the sixteenth to the late nineteenth century, addressing aspects of religious, cultural, political and economic exchange, conflict and “hybridization”. Biodata: PD Dr. Sven Trakulhun teaches history Department at the University of Konstanz, focusing in particular on the history of European relations with Thailand and other Asian countries from the sixteenth to the twentieth century. He is the author of Siam und Europa. Das Königreich Ayutthaya in westlichen Berichten (2006) and Asiatische Revolutionen. Europa und der Aufstieg und Fall asiatischer Imperien, 1600-1830 (2017).
