The concept of a cultural region (Kulturraum) shall be demonstrated on hand of the example of the Tây Nguyên highlands. The class is about this geographical area, the indigenous (autochtonous) peoples who live there, Viet migration and the historical development from the late 19th century until today.

Biodata:
Professor for Vietnamese Language and Culture at Universität Hamburg.
Current research projects include the history and culture of Vietnam with a special focus on majority-minority relationships, relations to neighbouring countries, modern Vietnamese history and literature.

Understanding of a region of Vietnamese culture, understanding the relationship between history and culture, highlands and lowlands, Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
