Kommentare/ Inhalte: David Hume is one of the greatest and most influential figures in history of philosophy. Hume raised profound sceptical worries concerning various phenomena including causation, the self, reason and the external world, and his discussions of the nature of morality and religion have an enduring significance that continues to have an influence in contemporary debates. This course aims to provide an overview of the central elements of Hume’s thought, and will cover topics in metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics, and the philosophy of religion. We will aim to present Hume not as a radically idiosyncratic thinker, but as someone who was dealing with fundamental questions regarding the human condition and our place in the natural world.
