Kommentare/ Inhalte: This course aims to introduce students to the main themes of information and network society and understanding of the basic theoretical approaches and concepts of networked culture. We explore how the development of digital information infrastructure has paved the way for new types of social methods and forms of knowledge. For example, what is sharing and how is sharing mediated? The bridge to a networked culture entails the necessary technologies to promote linkages, collaboration, and more democratic dialogue between institutions and the public.

In the theoretical lens, we examine "networked public sphere" and online community as being able to convey both civic and social ideas, which would contribute to building a sense of interest, belonging, and collaboration. On the practical level, we examine a set of digital practices such as open sourcing, social tagging, online sharing, and cases in the GLAM sectors to illustrate different senses of community and common institutional missions such as user engagement, openness, and social inclusion.

There is no class in December. The double sessions will take place on the 14th, 21st and 28th November, 10am-2pm.
